FÁBIO ALMEIDA MORAIS (Lattes Curriculum)

Graduated with a degree in Medicine from the Federal University of Pelotas (2005); completed a Medical Residency in Pediatrics at the Federal University of Pelotas (2009); earned a Master’s degree (2011) and a Ph.D. (2017) in Health Sciences from the University of the Far South of Santa Catarina (UNESC). At UNESC, I served as Coordinator of Maternal and Child Health II (pediatrics internship) and as Assistant Coordinator of the UNESC Medical School program for 3 years, while also serving as a professor of pharmacology in the medical school program from 2010 to 2022. At UFSC, I was a professor in the Class C1 Higher Education Faculty in the Department of Health Sciences at the Araranguá campus, teaching in the following areas: Pediatrics, Embryology, Human and Medical Genetics, Semiology, Tutorial Teaching, and Clinical Skills, where I served as Associate Coordinator of the Undergraduate Medical Program (CGM/CTS/ARA) for two years. I am currently a professor in the Higher Education Faculty at the School of Medicine (FAMED) of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG) in the following areas of expertise: Pediatrics, Pediatrics Clinical Rotation, Medical Residency in Pediatrics, and/or Medical Residency in Neonatology. I am also an adjunct professor in the Stricto Sensu Graduate Program in Public Health at FAMED/FURG.

LAURO MIRANDA DEMENECH (Lattes Curriculum)

Public health specialist focusing on epidemiology and the social determinants of mental health in populations. Adjunct Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). Co-founder and deputy coordinator of the Center for Studies on Risk and Health (CERIS-FURG). Bachelor’s degree in Psychology—FURG (2014), Master’s degree in Public Health—PPGSP/FURG (2015), and Ph.D. in Health Sciences—PPGCS/FURG (2021). He has additional training in Public Health from the Harvard T. H. LEANDRO QUADRO CORRÊA (Lattes Curriculum)

Adjunct professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG), where he teaches in the Physical Education program, the Integrated Multidisciplinary Hospital Residency Program with an Emphasis on Cardiometabolic Health Care for Adults (RIMHAS), and the Graduate Program in Public Health. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the Federal University of Pelotas (2009–2012), a postgraduate degree in Clinical Nutrition from the SENAC University Center (2018–2019), a master’s degree in Health and Behavior from the Catholic University of Pelotas (2013–2014), and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande (2015–2019), with a sandwich internship (PDSE) completed at the Complutense University of Madrid (2017). She is currently a professor at the Federal University of Pampa (UNIPAMPA), teaching in the undergraduate program in Nutrition and the Interdisciplinary Bachelor’s program in Science and Technology (Itaqui Campus), as well as in the Integrated Multidisciplinary Residency Program in Public Health (Uruguaiana Campus). She is a researcher in the fields of nutrition, public health, and environmental health.

MIRELLE DE OLIVEIRA SAES (Lattes Curriculum)

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the Catholic University of Pelotas (2008), a master’s and a Ph.D. in Health Sciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande (2011 and 2015), and a postdoctoral degree in Epidemiology from the Federal University of Pelotas. She is currently a professor at the School of Medicine of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FAMed/FURG) and serves as a tenured faculty member in the Graduate Program in Health Sciences at FURG and the Master’s Program in Public Health at FURG. She is the leader of the Teaching and Research Group on Population Health (GEPOP) and coordinator of the SulCovid study—a health monitoring study of adults and older adults following COVID-19 infection. Her primary areas of focus include: health services evaluation, older adults, adolescents/school-age children, primary health care, epidemiology, COVID-19, and long COVID.

RODRIGO DALKE MEUCCI (Lattes Curriculum)

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (2004). He holds a master’s and a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the Federal University of Pelotas and a postdoctoral degree in Public Health from the Federal University of Rio Grande—FURG. He serves as a faculty member in the undergraduate medical program and in the Graduate Programs in Public Health and Health Sciences at FURG. He is currently the coordinator of the Graduate Program in Public Health at FURG and Associate Regional Editor for the Latin American section of the journal *Rural and Remote Health*.

SIMONE DOS SANTOS PALUDO (Lattes Curriculum)

She is a Full Professor at the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). She holds a Ph.D. in Psychology from the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). She coordinates the Center for Psychological Studies (CEP-RUA/FURG). She served as coordinator of the Graduate Program in Psychology at the Federal University of Rio Grande (2019–2023). She is a tenured professor in the Graduate Programs in Psychology and Public Health at the Federal University of Rio Grande. She is a member of the “Youth, Resilience, and Vulnerability” Working Group of the National Association for Research and Graduate Studies in Psychology (ANPEPP). She has experience conducting research in the field of psychology, with an emphasis on the development of children, youth, and their families in situations of risk and social vulnerability, as well as on the bioecological approach and resilience. She has participated in several international programs and coordinated a program aimed at combating sexual violence against children and adolescents in Mercosur countries (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay). She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Developmental Psychology (ABPD 2023–2025) and Brazil’s regional representative to the International Society for the Study of Behavioral Development (ISSDB).

GIOVANNY VINICIUS ARAUJO DE FRANCA (Lattes Curriculum)

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Nutrition from the Federal University of Mato Grosso (2007). He earned his master’s and doctoral degrees in Epidemiology from the Graduate Program in Epidemiology at the Federal University of Pelotas, Rio Grande do Sul. He completed a sandwich Ph.D. program at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom (2013–2014). Since 2015, he has served as a Senior Technologist at the Health Surveillance Secretariat of the Ministry of Health. He worked at the Strategic Health Surveillance Information Center (CIEVS) from 2015 to April 2019. In May 2019, he was appointed General Coordinator of Epidemiological Information and Analysis (CGIAE), and in May 2021, he assumed the position of Director of the Department of Epidemiological Analysis and Noncommunicable Diseases (DAENT/SVS), a role he held until December 2022. He currently holds the position of Specialized Technical Advisor and serves as Acting General Coordinator of Strategic Actions in Clinical Research in the Department of Science and Technology of the Secretariat of Science, Technology, and Innovation and the Health Economic-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Health.

PEDRO SAN MARTIN SOARES (Lattes Curriculum)

Visiting Professor

CAROLINA DE VARGAS NUNES COLL (Lattes Curriculum)

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the Federal University of Pelotas (2010). Master’s degree (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) in Epidemiology from the Graduate Program in Epidemiology at UFPel. Completed a sandwich Ph.D. internship at the Department of Psychiatry, University of Oxford (2015–2016). She conducts research in the fields of epidemiology, maternal and child health, health inequalities, and violence across the life course. She is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the International Center for Health Equity and the Center for Human Development and Violence at the Federal University of Pelotas. Her most recent projects focus on reproductive health and gender-based violence in the context of low- and middle-income countries. She serves as a visiting researcher at the University of Miami (Institute for Advanced Studies of the Americas) and as a junior researcher on The Lancet’s commission on “Gender-based violence and maltreatment of young people.” She was recently awarded an International Training Fellowship from the British Wellcome Trust to study the effects of domestic violence on parenting and child development.
